Berry season. I have a recipe for you!

I'm always on the lookout for new berry recipes. We have SO MANY berries. I can go out and pick Nanaberries until my bowl runneth over and the vines are no worse for wear by sight. It's amazing really.

I tried this recipe out last night... And had to make it again tonight. It's that good. And simple. I substittuted a big spoonful of honey for the sugar, and added a small spoonful of honey to the warm milk and butter for the dumplings. And of course, why pour plain cream over the top when you can use ICE CREAM!? :)

This recipe would work for whatever kind of berry you may have in abundance! Since it's also cherry season here, evidenced by every seasonal cherry stand filled to the brim, I may have to try it with them too.

The only berries I have are strawberries (ever bearing). I would like to get bare root stock this coming winter.
What do you recommend?
How do you keep the birds out?

I'm so going to try this! We just went berry picking yesterday and we have almost 4 lbs of berries I don't know what to do with. LOL!

Maybelline I wish I had a good berry recommendation for you! I honestly don't know that much about the different kinds (except I knew I wanted a golden raspberry variety so I plated it this year!) because these vines were given to us by my husband's grandfather, they are babies off the vines he had in his yard before he moved.

I'd be happy to send some to you, they are prolific and delicious!
