Sunday Flowers! The sun was out!! WOOOHOOO!

What better way to see flowers but with a backdrop of a cloudless, fogless sky. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

A Chilly August Harvest

Seems so drab and boring to bemoan, once again, the cool and dreary summer we have had here. I've nearly forgotten what sun on my back feels like. This August garden is different from any other I've ever done. Usually by this time of year the heat has been on us for so long that all the lettuce has long bolted. This year? Well this year I have crisp, beautiful lettuce in abundance.
I have managed to squeak out a few tomatoes. Wilt has taken a strong suffocating hold on them, but there are some to be had for which I have learned to become grateful.
I've been making lacto-fermented salsa and green tomato chutney. Last night we had salmon tacos and the green tomato chutney was pretty phenomenal on it! I loosely followed this recipe and the results are sweet and tangy with a nice little zip.

Our breakfast scramble this morning with freshness straight from our garden. Sorrel, basil, chard, zucchini, beans, Amarillo carrots. Of course scrambled with our homegrown eggs!
Excuse the images... I had to send my camera in for repair (why oh why do I ever bring it to the beach? Sand is so hard on cameras!) so these were all taken with my phone.

Good morning. It's early, I've lit a candle for you. Sunday Flowers.

This bouquet is a combination of a crazy invasive (yet charming and pretty?) weed which I don't know the name of and garlic chive blossoms. Anyone know the name of the weed?
